Emily Hurd: SONGS

Nobody's A Stranger

(Potent One, 2006)
The whole world is your opponent when you’re going it alone and you’re afraid of every stone that you haven’t unturned.
Fear not, my brother.
The shadow’s just the other way of showing there’s another side to what you have learned.

But if you smile on your neighbor, nobody’s a stranger, but everybody’s scary if you see them that way.
It’s you you are thieving if you go believing that someone stole your sunny day.

You say there’s dangerous people and dangerous steeples and dangerous beetles crawling over the ground.
Fear not, my daughter.
Tears are just water and grey is just a color that you see when you’re down.

You look out for the south sides.
You look out for the outsides
You look out for any side that isn’t your own.
Well, fear is the stranger, but you are its neighbor every time you cater to makin it at home.
