Emily Hurd: SONGS

I Don't Know How to Leave You Alone

(The Barefoot Session, 2006)
The moment’s very perfect when everything’s uncertain. It’s innocent until the cover’s blown.

Now the awkward air is lifting, and I should now be drifting, but I don’t know how to leave you alone.

You brush my hair behind my ear and say the right kind of words that make me shiver to the bone.

I would run if I had legs to, but instead I stay and beg you, cuz I don’t know how to leave you alone.

You’re smilin with your eyes, how I wish I could go shy now, but mine only desire to match your tone.

I hear my front door callin, but I just stand here stallin, cuz I don’t know how to leave you alone.

You dance me to the corner. You dance me til I’m warmer than any heat that I have ever known.

I’ve got things I should be doin, but I let them go to ruin, cuz I don’t know how to leave you alone.

You move til I’m reeling, and I give into the feeling, cuz turnin back is hard once the seed’s sewn.

I guess all I am is wrapped up in this crazy kind of mad love, cuz I don’t know how to leave you alone.

The moment’s very fragile when everything’s so natural. It’s paradise til someone throws a stone.

So if you must, break it down, lose my trust so I’ll know how to finally leave you alone.

If you must, break it down, lose my trust so I’ll know how to finally leave you alone.
